I replaced my bad habit with healthy activities.

I stopped smoking about five years ago. Before I quit, I rarely exercised. The thing that finally convinced me to make a change was feeling out of breath even the day after moving stuff in the garage.

It was hard to stop in the beginning. My wife did not smoke so this helped a lot.  She keep pushing me to stop.  At Whirlpool I talked to co-workers who had stopped smoking with the help of medication, so I went to doctor and he helped me find a plan that would help me quit. I just followed the directions and kept with it. I chewed a lot of gum.

After I stopped I started living a healthier lifestyle. I snow skied back in the 1980’s but not since then. I decided to pick it back up, and started exercising at the YMCA as well. I feel healthier. I am in better shape. I may live a better life.

I made a change for the better in my life. I did something that would help my family, myself, and others. You’ve got to set a goal, stick with it, keep trying, and reach it. Now I’m looking forward to staying in shape, keeping up with workouts, and enjoying my life.
