Before I came to Whirlpool, I struggled 16 years with addiction, and had some brushes with the law.

I had a wake up call during rehab in Jay, Oklahoma. This time was a key moment for me. God triggered change in my life.

From that point on I’ve made progress. My dad was and is my biggest supporter. My uncle Jimmy and many others have been inspirations and support for me as I put my life back together. Even after being clean, it took me 1 ½ years to find a job and Whirlpool accepted me.

But Whirlpool gave me a chance when I was about to give up. Luckily, Whirlpool let me in the door, and hired me. I love Whirlpool. The size of the plant still amazes me. I am proud to be part of Whirlpool Family.

I’m so thankful for this job, and it has helped me stay on the right track because of the support I have received. The work is a challenge, but I love my coworkers. Everybody shows up with their game face and is ready to go. I am a forklift driver, I love driving with 1st shift North Dock drivers. We are good, real good.

My life looks much different now. I have been clean of any drugs for 7 years now. My dad, sister, and other family are a big part of my life again. I’ve even gotten involved in politics because I believe my vote matters. Now, I have a boat, car, and house. I wake up with praise and go to sleep with a prayer to God.

I would encourage others not to give up, even if you do make mistakes. Be thankful for everything, life is short. My story is longer than this, but I just wanted to say thank you to Whirlpool. I am happy, I am content, I am thankful. I love my job. I look forward to going to work every day. I will be with Whirlpool for as long as Whirlpool or I exist.
