I weighed 245 lbs. Then I saw a one-legged man completing a marathon.
I was obese and my knees always hurt. My back was killing me. It was painful to just make it through one week of work. I saw a video online that showed a one legged man completing a marathon, a one armed woman doing a deadlift, and other incredible stories. I thought, I have nothing physically wrong with me, I just need to get out there and do it.
The first step I took was small. I stopped drinking pop. I also started doing short runs and worked my way up from there.
It was hard. Some days, I just wanted to give up because it just wasn’t my day or I was too tired. I was working third shift. There was a few times when I gave up and stopped working out. But a few weeks later I would get back to it.
My friends helped me by giving me workout routines, dieting advice, and even just going on walks, runs, and sometimes doing the workout with me.
I now weigh 160 lbs.
I knew from the moment I watched that video that I had to change. It was a hard change, but it has made me feel so much better. And it helped me feel more confident and happy. I am a new person.
I would never have realized the condition I was in had I not been working at Whirlpool. I thought I was just fine. Whirlpool also helped me complete workouts and come up with some more too.
Today, I have been trying to achieve an even lower body fat percentage while maintaining my honors status in college.
If you want to lose weight, attack it mentally. Take small steps toward a healthy lifestyle. That allows you to easily transition yourself. Pretty soon the results will come. Set milestones on how far you run or how much you can lift. Lastly, reward yourself! Don’t give up. Think “I WILL.”

My current weight is what you were at. I have made small diet changes and started to get back into exercise. I hope I can acheive what you have – all while working and going to school. That’s a great and truly inspiring story. Congratulations!
